Older generations may know him as very young singer in the "Schlagerszene"
(kind of german easy-listening music) with songs like "Du".
Later he tried to change his image and became a so called "Deutschrocker".
He made two very successful albums: "Steppenwolf" and "Revanche".
Peter Maffay holds a German record for most albums (14) to have sold over
one million copies.
He has a big heart for children:
He created together with the children's song writer Rolf Zuckowski and the author
Gregor Rottschalka a fairy tale about a little green dragon named Tabaluga, which
was spread out onto five albums. The piece is also a musical which was and still is
on tour in Germany.
Maffay is also the founder of helping projects for abused and traumatised children.
He established on Majorca a ranch, where traumatised children from all over the
world can have free holidays.
